Samoa's national hospital's new oxygen manufacturing plant has started supplying oxygen to the operating theatre after years of spending thousands of dollars on overseas supply.
The government bought the oxygen manufacturing machine after a number of medical surgeries were postponed last December because oxygen shipments were late.
The chief executive officer of the Ministry of Health's medical unit, Dr Stanley Dean, at the time had blamed the late arrival on the military coup in Fiji.
An engineer from New Zealand who installed the new machine says the plant can manufacture more than enough to supply the operating theatre daily.
