Samoa's Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Tuisugaletaua Sofara Aveau, is in American Samoa this week to discuss shipping services provided by the Samoa Shipping Corporation for the two countries including a charter service to the Manu'a Island.
Its the first meeting between the main shipping corporation office in Apia and its agent in the territory, since the corporation's inter-island ferry the MV Lady Naomi, had paid a fine of $20,000 US dollars to the American Samoa authorities last October.
The Samoa Shipping Corporation was ordered to pay the fine when the ferry was found carrying a rugby team from the National University to the territory without entry permits.
