A local business in Samoa, which has been offering jobs to the successful applicants of the annual New Zealand immigration quota scheme is under investigation for fraud.
New Zealand's immigration branch manager in Apia, Lauano Ati Ilaoa, alleges the business had asked for payment from five hundred to one thousand US Dollars from the successful applicants before they were guaranteed a job offer.
The business is also alleged to have used the letter head of several companies in New Zealand.
Lauano says the companies have denied either making any job offers or looking for people in the annual quota to fill vacant positions.
The alleged fraud is being jointly investigated by police in Samoa and New Zealand.
