The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation in the Northern Marianas has urged Tinian residents to continue boiling their water until test results show that the water supply is free of bacteria.

Tinian residents were warned to boil water after tests showed the presence of coliform bacteria in the island's water supply after an interruption in the routine chlorine treatment .

A spokesperson for the corporation has told the Saipan Tribune that although the Tinian water supply has now been treated there is a 24 hour incubation period to be observed before samples can be tested to ensure the contamination has been dealt with.
