6:00 am on 25 April 2007

Samoa's third contingent of police officers to work as peace keepers in Sudan under the United Nations peace keeping mission will leave their home country this week.

The police commissioner, Papali'i Lorenese Neru, says the six member contingent will be in Sudan for 12 months but there is a possibility of an extension if they want to.

Meanwhile the first contingent will return home this week-end after eighteen months of peace keeping duties in the same African country.

The second contingent will remain in Sudan and work along with the new team of peace keepers for the next six months.
