New Zealand exporters are being told they're overlooking millions of dollars worth of potential business in regions of the Pacific closely tied to the United States.

The US deputy Secretary for the Interior David Cohen says his department has an annual development budget of more than 540-million dollars for regions including American Samoa, Guam and Palau.

And the Chairman of the New Zealand Pacific Business Council agrees the Pacific is full of opportunities for this country's manufacturers and food exporters.

Gilbert Ullrich says it's time these companies became more informed about opportunities in their own backyard.
