The Pacific Islands Forum has appointed the head of the Forum Fisheries Agency as one of its two deputy secretaries.

Feleti Te'o is from Tuvalu where he had held the positions of attorney general and head of the legal and judicial services before taking up the leadership of the FFA in Honiara.

The secretary general, Greg Urwin, says Mr Te'o has a wealth of knowledge and experience in Pacific issues to bring to his new role.

He replaces Samoa's Iosefa Maiava who completed his term in March.
