The head of Samoa's Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet says he expects the number of applicants for seasonal work in New Zealand to reach over 3,000 at the closing of the first round of applications this week.

Auseuga'efa Va'asatia Poloma Komiti says more than 2,000 forms were issued from his office last week after the seasonal worker scheme programme was officially opened.

Auseuga'efa says only two weeks is given for forms to be filled in and return to his office.

He says it will give his staff enough time to screen each application before a short-list is made.

The CEO has repeated zero tolerance for those who do not comply with the seasonal job offer conditions while in New Zealand.
