Fiji has lost the hosting role of the Oceania women's Olympic qualifying tournament.

Media reports from Fiji state the Oceania Hockey Federation has transferred the tournament to Australia.

The Federation has responded to New Zealand and Australia government advice it's not safe to travel to Fiji.

Australia will now host both the men's and women's qualifying tournaments in September.

Where before Fiji was going to have a men's and women's team compete at both tournaments it's claimed it can only afford to send one team to Brisbane.
