Sols government and an advertising agency provide equipment for rice farmers

The Solomon Islands government and an advertising agency have provided equipment for some rice farmers.

One farmer, Connelly Sandakabatu, says the equipment indicated the government's attention to some of their needs.

He says rice is becoming a staple food in the country and it's important the government encourage farmers to grow the crop locally instead of importing it.

The SIBC reports the mini-tractors were sourced by the advertising agency Set Marketing, and the Department of Agriculture will distribute the equipment to selected rice farmers throughout the country.
