A mobile phone operator bidding to enter the Papua New Guinean mobile phone market has presented its case before an Australian arbitrator.

The Jamaican company, Digicel Limited, wants to enter the PNG mobile phone market which would mean an end to the monopoly of Telikom PNG.

The Post Courier newspaper reports the ministry of treasury has flown in an arbitrator, Rod Shogren, from Australia to listen to the arguments of both companies.

Mr Shogren is reported to have said he will make his final decision soon.
