An employee of a large resort on Fiji's Coral Coast has appeared in the Sigatoka magistrate's court for stealing 830-thousand US dollars.

Chirk King Yam, 35, is alleged to have committed the offences at the Warwick Resort between September 2005 and March this year while he was employed as the financial controller.

Magistrate Kiniviliame Keteca has released Chirk on bail of 6-thousand US dollars, ordered him to surrender his passport and report to the Samabula police station twice a week.

The case will be re-called on June 13.
