A quake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit parts of Tonga this morning.
A geologist from the Ministry of Lands and Survey, Kelepi Mafi, says the quake's epicentre was near Haapai and at a depth of about 15 kilometres.
Radio Tonga says according to reports from Ha'apai say it lasted for about a minute.
There are no reports of damage.
