The Solomon Islands Chief Justice says the government's commitment in this year's budget to strengthen the justice system is encouraging.

19 government posts within the National Judiciary have been advertised and 16 of those positions are new.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports that Chief Justice, Sir Albert Palmer, has welcomed the advertisement of the posts.

He says for justice to truly become visible, tangible and accessible to the whole community, the judiciary needs the right people with the right skills in place as soon as possible.

Posts being advertised include a Chief Magistrate and three Principal Magistrates, senior executive officers as well as a Sheriff and deputy Sheriff of the High Court.
