The Solomon Islands Minister of Fisheries says knowing how to manage the Pacific regions tuna resources is one of the biggest challenges facing the industry.

Forum Fisheries Agency Members from around the Pacific have been meeting in New Zealand this week, with the state of the Pacific tuna fisheries being the key issue at the meetings.

The Solomon Islands Minister of Fisheries, Nollen Leni, says the challenge for the Pacific region is managing tuna resources at a sustainable level.

"What we understand now is the tuna resource is depleting, and so how do we maintain the stock by keeping it sustainable for the future generations. if we can make use of this resource so we can make money for Solomon Islands."
