The Fiji Law Society vice president, Tupou Draunidalo, has been prevented from leaving the country by immigration officers at Nadi Airport.
Ms Draunidalo was to attend a Law Asia Conference in Hong Kong as a representative of the Fiji Law Society.
The Fijilive news site says the Fiji Law Society had sought clarification from the Director of Immigration Commander Viliame Naupoto prior to planning the trip.
Ms Draunidalo was earlier in the year questioned by police on alleged charges of sedition.
She was later released due to lack of evidence.
The military had alleged that she had incited the public to oppose the military-led government.
