Travel ban by unnamed Fiji authority on prominent lawyer lifted

1:02 pm on 4 June 2007

Fiji's Immigration director, Commander Viliame Naupoto, says orders to ban lawyer Tupou Draunidalo from travelling abroad came from higher authorities.

The Fijilive news site says he would not reveal who gave the command to stop Ms Draunidalo.

The interim attorney general Aiyaz-Sayed Khaiyum said it was all a mix-up and that she had been cleared to leave.

The Fiji Law Society vice president flew out of the country this morning.
