Fiji man buried a week after alleged fatal police beating

The funeral has been held in Fiji of Tevita Malasebe, who died hours after being taken into police custody last week.

The Fiji Times Online says the burial took place in Nasinu.

Police are treating his death as murder.

Two other Fiji men have died this year after being taken into custody by the security forces.

Sakiusa Rabaka died after being allegedly beaten by the army as did Nilimote Verebasaga.

Police have investigated the latter ttwo deaths but no charges have been laid.
