The Gold Coast Titans have surged into fifth place on the Australian National Rugby league ladder after a 16-14 round 14 win over Wests Tigers yesterday.

The next three weeks could prove crucial for the rookie club with home games against Newcastle and the Warriors before they take on the Broncos two days after Origin III.

Elsewhere yesterday in round 14 Parramatta beat St. George Illawarra 20-12, the Eels moving into third spot on the ladder.

On Saturday the Melbourne Storm strengthened their grip on top spot with a thumping 58-12 win over North Queensland

The Knights have a chance to move back into the top eight tonight when they host Canberra, with Newcastle out for revenge after being humbled 48-18 in the nation's capital in round three.
