The Pacific Islands News Association, or PINA, is calling for New Zealand journalist, Michael Field to be allowed back into Fiji.
Mr Field was deported soon after arrival in Fiji last week.
The PINA president, Joseph Ealedona, says with the situation in Fiji, the interim government should allow both local and foreign journalists to report without fear or favour.
Mr Ealedona says the deportation has sent a clear signal of intimidation to other journalists reporting the events in Fiji and that does not augur well for the interim government.
He says the interim government has other avenues to use if it has concerns about reporting.
But Mr Ealadona says deporting journalists will not help and PINA is urging the interim government to reconsider its decision and to allow Mr Field back into Fiji.
