The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption has confirmed that it stopped the deputy police commissioner, Sada Nand, from leaving the country.
Mr Nand arrived at Nadi Airport on Monday on his way to take up a United Nations job in Sudan but was turned back by border control officials because his name was on a travel watch list.
The deputy commissioner of the Commission Against Corruption, Captain Esala Teleni, told Fiji TV last night they had issues with Mr Nand but he would be cleared to travel if there is nothing against him.
The Fiji Times reports that Mr Nand was questioned by the commission yesterday about an alleged fraud in the police pay department.
The lead investigator, Superintendent Nasir Ali, says Mr Nand, who was in charge of accounts and administration when he was assistant commissioner, went in voluntarily to be questioned.
Meanwhile, Captain Teleni has confirmed that they are now moving ahead with investigations into several senior police officers.
