The General Secretary of Fiji's Teachers Union says they're disappointed that the interim administrations has decided to put their proposals on hold.
The government response has forced Fiji's Confederation of Public Sector Unions, which includes the Public Servant and Nurses Association along with the Fiji Teachers Union to re-issue their strike action which they planning to hold on the 19th of July.
The Unions met with the interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, to put forward alternatives which were presented to Cabinet.
However, Mr Deo Singh, says the response was not what they expected given that their proposals were reasonable.
"All we said that was they use a pending increment to the Public Service Unions which we could defer until the economy is in a state where it can be met, and all we suggested was that the five percent pay cut that they have implemented be restored gradually with a two percent to begin with in December."
Mr Deo Singh says the government's counter proposal was to find out from the minor unions wanted and then integrate a package for everyone which is not acceptable.
