Samoa pension fund registers record growth

Samoa's National Provident Fund has announced it will pay out a record nine percent of earnings this year to its 66 thousand contributors.

The general manager of the fund, Papali'i Tavita Moala, says it is a good result for all contributors.

The record nine percent payout compares with a more normal 6 percent dividend and the Fund calls it a gift to mark its 35 years of operations.

But Papalii says the Fund, which has around 100 million US dollars in savings and assets, is able to pay out the larger amount because it is doing particularly well.
