The Samoa United Caterers group has been awarded the task of feeding more than five thousand athletes and officials for the 13th South Pacific Games in Apia next month.

Businesses in the group have been given more than 2 million US dollars to cater for the event, after criticism the government wasn't giving the contract to locals.

The deputy speaker of parliament La'auli Leuatea Polata'ivao, told the Samoa Observer, chefs will be hired from New Zealand and Australia.
