Three Fiji public sector unions will hold another round of talks with the interim administration on Monday in a bid to avoid a nationwide strike later this month.
Fiji TV reports that the talks will be between the Confederation of Public Sector Unions and the minister for the public service, Poseci Bune.
The Confederation represents the Public Servants Association, the Nurses Association and the Fiji Teachers Union.
Its chairman, Rajeshwar Singh, says he hopes their grievances about the 5% pay cut, the lowering of the retirement age from 60 to 55 and the ending of the partnership agreement reached with the deposed administration can still be resolved.
Their strike notice is due to expire on July the 19th when members of the three unions plan to walkout.
The Public Service Commission has warned they will deduct the pay of all those who go on strike.
But Mr Singh has dismissed the warning, saying it is the threat used by the commission everytime a strike is due to take place.
