Fiji anti-corruption unit investigation stretches beyond Qarase administration

9:57 am on 6 July 2007

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption will investigate all those involved in corruption in the country, not just those alleged to have been involved during the term of the deposed SDL government.

The interim attorney general, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says they will investigate all public service corruption, regardless of whether it happened during the term of the SDL government, the Chaudhry government or the Rabuka government.

He says people think that the interim administration is against the SDL government but that is not true.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum says the SDL government was not the only one to blame.

But speaking on Fiji TV last night the national director of the SDL party, Peceli Kinivuwai, challenged the interim administration to produce evidence of SDL corruption, adding that that was the initial reason for their removal.
