Figures relased in French Polynesia show the territory's tourism industry earned 520 million US dollars last year.

The French Polynesian statistical institute says this is a 6.1 percent increase over the previous year.

The figure is in line with the increase in the number of visitors, which was up by 6.5 percent to just over 221,000 arrivals.

Europe and North America account for about three quarters of the visitors.
