Telecommunications to six Pacific Island countries from New Zealand have been affected by a storm which hit the north island overnight.

The services disrupted include those to Tuvalu, Kiribati, Tonga, Samoa, Tokelau and Solomon Islands.

Telecom New Zealand says there's been wind damage to one of two satellite dishes at the Warkworth earth satellite station but it's working to restore services.
