Seven applicants seek appointment as LBJ Hospital chief executive

8:38 am on 16 July 2007

The Chairman of American Samoa's Hospital Authority Board, Charles Warren,

says the reason why the former CEO of the LBJ HOspital was fired is because his overall performance wasn't at the level that the hospital needed.

Mr Warren says the former CEO Kirk Gray, was given the option to resign but refused the offer and the board moved to terminate his services.

Seven locals have applied for the now vacant position and the board expects to select a new CEO by the end of this month .
