The police in Samoa are expected to lay criminal charges against the suspended assistant police commissioner who is alleged to have raped two police women in May on separate occasions.

The Attorney General, Aumua Ming Leung Wai, made the recommendation to charge the senior officer to the Police commissioner, Papali'i Lorenese Neru, according to reliable sources.

The attorney general looked into the investigation which was carried out by the police professional unit.

One of the sources says the recommendation to charge the senior officer has been referred to one of the three assistant police commissioners for action.
