Vanuatu cricketers demolish Japan

Vanuatu cricket captain Andrew Mansale inspired his side scoring 157 from just 89 balls to crush Japan by 347 runs in their East Asia - Pacific Under 19 World Cup qualifying tournament in Port Vila.

Mansale's scored included 21 fours, and seven sixes.

Also among the runs was Fredrick Timakata 61 and Simpson Obed 56 not out.

Vanuatu amassed 381 from 50 overs and then dismissed Japan for just 34 runs.

In the other match, pre-tournament favourites Papua New Guinea who notched up 118 runs, dismissed Fiji for 80 to put them into second place.

PNG's Willie Gavera took four wickets for 22 while the best of the bowlers for Fiji were Viliame Manakiwai 3-for 21, and Tukana Tavo 3-for 32.
