An Indonesian Air Force helicopter which went missing in October 2005 in Papua province has been found in Keerom district.
The Jakarta Post reports that residents of Lere village discovered the helicopter along with remains of the four crew members last Tuesday near the border with Papua New Guinea.
Col. P. Ismoko Ismono, head of Jayapura military airport, said a special evacuation team was sent to the crash site following the report from residents.
On Friday, the team arrived with the remains at the Sentani military airport in Jayapura and has prepared to fly them to Jakarta.
The helicopter crashed to the ground during a regular flying exercise in Sentani military air force on October 12th 2005.
