Fiji's monopoly mobile phone service provider, Vodaphone Fiji Limited, has reported a profit of almost 20-million US dollars for the financial year ending in March.

The profit is 24% more than in the previous financial year.

Vodaphone Fiji has attributed its sharply increased profits to aggressive marketing of various services including picture texting as customers upgraded their phones.

It's also increased its subscriber base by almost 79-thousand customers to a total of 285-thousand.

This compares with its landline competitor, Telecom Fiji, which has fewer than 100-thousand customers.
