A Pape'ete court has sentenced an Australian woman to four years jail and a 152,000 US dollar fine for trafficking cocaine into French Polynesia.

The 29-year-old woman was arrested at Tahiti-Faa'a international airport on a Sydney-bound flight from Santiago last February.

Newspaper La Dépêche de Tahiti reported that she was found in possession of not less than four kilograms of cocaine.

Airport police found the drugs concealed inside her luggage.
