The Fijian Teachers Association has called off its strike and has asked its members to return to work.

This follows the interim regime's decision to move the school holidays forward by two weeks.

FTA president Tevita Koroi has told fijilive that he has informed the members of the union.

He says he has also assured them that the Association will be seeking legal advice on the interim government's decision to slash civil servants pay by five per cent.

Mr Koroi all teachers, including non-union members that went on strike, will be paid their strike allowance.

The interim education minister, Netani Sukanaivalu, says the Association has made a wise decision.

This week, the interim government suspended Mr Koroi as a teacher.
