Solomons MP on conspiracy charge gets name suppression

7:38 pm on 6 August 2007

A Solomon Islands opposition MP is among three men who have been charged for conspiracy to unlawful purpose.

The Solomon Islands Brodcasting Corporation says the three appeared in an open Honiara Magistrates court today.

The defence successfully applied for a name suppression order on the basis of innocence until the prosecution proves the guilt of their clients beyond reasonable doubt.

It said of the politician that adverse reporting could impact on a no confidence motion that will be moved in Parliament against the government tomorrow.

The case has been adjourned until Monday next week.
