Papua New Guinea's National Agriculture Quarantine and Inspection Authority is working with Australia to improve the fumigation of its agricultural exports.

Under a co-operation scheme signed by the two countries in March, Papua New Guinea's exports will undergo stricter fumigation procedures to meet international standards.

PNG exports its agricultural produce to APEC and European Union countries.

The National reports the training of quarantine officials to do the work, is expected to take up to eight months.
