At least two people have been killed in clashes between police and youths in Papua New Guinea's capital Port Moresby.
Witnesses say police fired bullets and tear gas at a crowd of stone-throwing men, rioting over an ethnic killing and seeking revenge against members of a neighbouring tribe.
The street battle around a seaside market lasted for two hours, with looters raiding shops and businesses when the police retreated.
Revenge against members of other ethnic groups is common in Papua New Guinea.
