Samoa's government minister responsible for the South Pacific Games, Faumuina Tiatia Liuga, has urged his country's team to aim for gold and get a one thousand US dollar reward recently endorsed by the cabinet.

The challenge was put to the team by the minister during a fundraising drive for the Samoan team over the week-end.

Faumuina told the athletes they should win more than fifty gold medals and become the overall winner of the games which are due to begin in two weeks time in Apia.

The team is trying to raise 150 thousand US dollars to fund their preparations.
