American Samoa explores use of "tropical sheep"

A delegation of lawmakers from American Samoa has recommended that the territory investigate the possibility of grazing "tropical sheep" in the Manu'a islands.

After a visit to Samoa, the group submitted to the senate a report saying that they toured a sheep farm in Vailima where there is ongoing experimentation on domesticating the sheep.

The report says that livestock farming was of interest and could be replicated on the Manu'a island of Ta'u.

It notes that these sheep have the capacity to survive in the local harsh tropical climate and the immune system to reject common tropical diseases.
