Mobile phone use doubles in PNG in three weeks - report

Digicel's entry into Papua New Guinea has raised the mobile phone usage in the country by 69-percent over the past three weeks.

Three weeks ago, prior to Digicel's entry, there were 160,000 mobile phone users.

This has now doubled to an estimated 315,000, according to an assessment by the business community.

The newspaper, The National, reports that Digicel is now one of the fastest-growing networks in the Asia Pacific regions.
