Samoa to re-design currency to stop counterfeit notes

The Samoan government has endorsed a proposal by the Central Bank for a new design of the local Tala or dollar notes in order to stop counterfeiting.

The new notes are to be printed in England by the De La Rue Company and will be launched in the next six months.

The government says the newly designed notes will including the two, five, ten, twenty, fifty, and one hundred Tala.
