The Government of Japan and the Asian Development Bank is to help Papua New Guinea promote good governance by helping it re-build public financial management institutions and systems.

The country director of ADB's PNG resident mission, Steven van der Tak, says the money will support efforts to promote good governance through more transparent and efficient use of public resources.

This includes two projects that will focus on improving the financial oversight and governance of public agencies, and support the preparation of the Government's medium-term financial management strategy.
