Fiji's interim prime minister and military commander has rejected a proposal for reconciliation in return for immunity and amnesty for all those involved in the December 5th coup.
The proposal was made in a weekend newspaper advertisement by a vice president of the SDL party and paramount chief of Naitasiri province, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata.
Ratu Inoke was jailed for life for inciting the November 2000 army mutiny but was released by the Appeal Court in June with an order that he be tried again.
Commodore Bainimarama says Ratu Inoke concerns are already addressed in the People's Charter for Change and Progress.
The interim prime minister says Ratu Inoke still stands accused of masterminding the November 2000 mutiny which claimed eight lives and does not command any respect in the military.
Commodore Bainimarama says the paid advertisement is an attempt to incite people using Ratu Inoke's chiefly position.
