Papua New Guinea's National Court has dismissed proceedings by Telikom against the mobile phone company, Digicel and the ICCC or Independent Consumer and Competition Corporation.

The National reports that Telikom was seeking a declaration that the ICCC could not issue or purport to issue any licence to another mobile phone provider, such as Digicel, before this October.

But, Justice Bernard Sakora dismissed the proceedings, saying it was an abuse of the court process, and that it was only repeating and dealing with issues already dealt with by the courts.

Telikom had commenced legal proceedings against the ICCC on Dec 22 last year seeking a judicial review to quash the decision of ICCC made in August 2006 to grant two new public mobile licences.
