Fiji's interim attorney general has filed papers in the Suva High Court seeking 14 declarations against the deposed prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, and his home affairs minister, Josefa Vosanibola.
The papers outline constitutional breaches by Mr Qarase and Mr Vosanibola in failing to keep the president, Ratu Josefa Iloilo, informed of matters relating to the governance of Fiji in the days leading up to the military takeover.
These include failing to inform the president of a request for military intervention from Australia and failing to inform the president that 8 members of the Australian Air Services had been allowed to enter Fiji without immigration and customs clearance.
The papers also say the two former ministers failed to inform the president that on November 28th last year the top diplomats from Australia, the United States and Britain asked the deputy military commander to withdraw his support from the head of state.
Another declaration sought is that the two failed to inform the president that the police had asked INTERPOL to have Commodore Frank Bainimarama arrested while he was in New Zealand on November 28th last year.
The declarations have been sought to counter Mr Qarase's court challenge against the military's removal of his government.
