Fiji's deposed prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, says the interim government's latest move to take him to court is a revenge act.
The interim attorney general has filed papers to the high court alleging breaches by Mr Qarase.
These include failing to keep the president informed of matters relating to Fiji's governance and to inform him of an alleged request for military intervention made to Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Qarase is challenging the legality of the military coup against his government in the high court and he says he expected the interim government to take a counter action.
"I am not surprised, of course. I think this is in response to the principal court case that I and some of my colleagues are taking against the [interim] government. We are asking the court to declare that [the takeover] was illegal, unconstitutional and therefore invalid. So it is in response to the case that we are taking up that they are taking this against us."
Laisenia Qarase says all the allegations made against him are untrue.
