Moderator and Deputy Moderator elected at 9th Assembly of PCC in American Samoa

The Right Reverend Apimeliki Qiliho, of Fiji and Celine Hoiore of French Polynesia have been elected as Moderator and Deputy Moderator respectively of the Pacific Conference of Churches.

The election was held at the 9th Assembly of the PCC in American Samoa .

Rt. Rev. Qiliho, who is originally from the province of Nadroga in Fiji is the Bishop of Vanua Levu and Taveuni Episcopal Unit of the Anglican Diocese of Polynesia.

Mrs Hoiore is the General Secretary of the Maohi Protestant Church.

A past president of the Fiji Council of Churches and current chairman of the board of the Bible Society of the South Pacific, Bishop Qiliho has also served as the Vicar-General of the Anglican Diocese of Polynesia and Principal of St. John the Baptist Theological College in Suva.

Bishop Qiliho, who is the incumbent Deputy Moderator, said that he was humbled by the overwhelming support he received in his election as PCC Moderator.

Bishop Qiliho and Mrs Hoiore will serve for 5 years until the next Assembly of the PCC in 2012.
