The re-elected Pacific Games Council President says he hopes to modernise the Games in his second term.

At the recently completed Games in Samoa, Vidhya Lakhan, was given another term and will guide the Games towards Noumea in four years time.

Lakhan says he wants to put the Games on a more professional footing including a marketing and sponsorship drive to increase revenue for the Council.

Around four and a half thousand athletes and officials assembled in Samoa and Lakhan believes the contingent was too big.

Ideally he would like to see that number reduced by about a thousand.
