Fiji's police commissioner resigns his military post

Fiji's police commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni, has resigned as the deputy military commander.

He has held both posts since being appointed to head the police two months ago.

The military spokesman, Lt Col Mosese Tokoitoga, has told local radio that he resignation has been accepted by the army commander, Commodore Bainimarama.

The spokesman says one of the conditions of Commodore Teleni's the appointment to the top police job was that he resign from his military appointment and focus all his attention on his police responsibilities.
